From the accompanying wall text:
In recent years, I’ve been holding onto these words – wild patience, anger, and tenderness – from Adrienne Rich’s 1978 poem, “Integrity.” The oversized jeans pockets celebrate her spirit of queer refusal. The patterning of the wall painting is modeled after the common weaving structure called herringbone twill. The work invites conversation around the complexities of American identity, desire, and emotional life. The font used in this work is from Nat Pyper’s collection of open-source fonts from queer archives. This font is called Women’s Car Repair Collective, culled from a 1970s lesbian-feminist car mechanics leaflet. 🔧
